Did you see the Google April Fool's joke for 2012, it was one done in conjunction with NASCAR, where they were going to supposedly enter a robot Google race car to compete. NASCAR had this on their website and so did Google, and it looked like a genuine news release, ha ha ha, jokes on us right?
Actually, the jokes on me, as I wrote a piece on April 6, 2010 on the same topic, the article was titled;
"Will Robotic Race Trucks Take Over Pike's Peak, NASCAR, and Formula One - One Day?"
Anyway, I am glad to see "the world is listening," and that makes me happy to contribute.
Now then, for this year's April Fools and realize once again I am a little late on this.
Okay so, I say better late than never.
You see, I was going to write this article for April Fools Day 2012 but it was on my list of things to do pile?
Sorry about that, but here it goes anyway, but first a word from our sponsor.
You see, there was an interesting article in the February 2012 issue of Popular Mechanics titled;
"That's All Folks," By Jeff Wise.
In this article they talk about all the potential calamities which could end the world.
They told us not to worry about the Mayan calendar, but rather to consider such things as; "an asteroid impact, global pandemic, a takeover by the machines, a Gamma Ray burst, an Ice Age, ocean acidification, solar storm, Super Volcano, a geomagnetic reversal, a nuclear war, or an artificial black hole."
Okay so, probably none of those things are going to happen this year or anytime soon.
In fact, if this were not an April fools joke and as per the titled of this article 30,000 years really were added to the Mayan calendar, who would know the difference anyway?
Do you see my point?>
Realize also, that every single person that has predicted the end of the world so far, well, they've all been wrong haven't they?
Therefore, maybe you should save for a rainy day, and not pretend that you are going to win the lottery to solve your retirement nest egg challenges in your personal saving's space.
Now then, I am most certain that very soon robotic racing cars will be challenging humans to see which is the best.
Just as IBM's Watson beat the best human Jeopardy players, and just as IBM's artificial intelligent computer became the chess champion, I would submit to you that the days of human race car operators taking the podium are numbered.
Therefore, it hardly matters if NASCAR and Google were only kidding us this time around, because in the future that will be the reality, and although it may not be this year, it certainly could have been, and in the future I'm sure we all know that such a reality is just down the track.
Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.
