You feed your body and you need to also feed your mind with positive emotions that nourish your spirit. One of the easiest and most effective tools to influence positive feelings is keep a daily Love Scribe journal. It has one purpose only and that is to be a positive influence in your day to day living and help remind you of your blessings.
At the end of every day, take a few minutes alone to recall one thing that happened that day to make you smile. Write it in your journal. And then reverse the question by recalling one thing you did to make someone smile.
When you wake up the next day, remember to take out your journal and read it to yourself. Reflect on your notes and experiences again and feel its power to affect you positively. Spend a moment in gratitude that you are living in freedom and blessed to be alive. Linger in the reflection of gratitude, give it two minutes of your time and recall the reasons you are grateful, not simply words but feelings because one day it will all be gone and you with it so the time for thanks is now.
Gratitude will align your day on a high note. Make this your time to meditate on all you have. Carve a few minutes out for yourself to reflect on the good things in your life. Read your scribes because your words mirror memories and reflect the many faces, places and opportunities to love and be loved.
Some entries from my past journals:
My dog, Brutus, licked my face and woke me up this morning.
A teenager gave me his seat coming home on the hot subway, a small kindness that meant a lot. He smiled.
My niece called just to say hi and ask about my day.
My family picture sitting on my desk at work.
Sent flowers to Mom for no reason except to brighten her day, which it did.
I walked during my lunch and smiled at strangers passing by. I forget to smile and it feels good when I do.
I stopped at church before going to work to give thanks for all I have.
Tom held my hand when I sat beside him after dinner and said "I love you."
What thoughts make you happy? What thoughts make you smile? Who/what brightens your day? How do you, can you brighten another person's day?
Write those special endearing words spoken by another on an index card and carry it with you, no kidding. Keep it on your person and let it love you as often as you need every day. I cherish a note from my sister in law, Carol, straight from her heart into mine about why she loves and cares about me. I never tire reading it.
Write those expressions of love on the reverse side of photographs and carry them with you, or download with captions onto your i-phone and in your p.c. Talk about game changers...try staying in a bad mood after reading "I love You" on the back of that special someone's photo. Allow yourself to love and be loved! I'm getting all fuzzy just thinking about it.
Love comes in so many forms and in so many ways that it's easy to overlook and yet it's the real treasure of each day. Make it your habit to capture and remember some love every day. Focus on the love, the kindness, the goodness of each day and I promise you a peaceful heart will follow.
My best to you.
